foraging workshops in Berlin

Foraging is one of the most rewarding skills you can learn. Free, sustainable, and absurdly delicious food in the middle of the city? An activity that connects you deeply to yourself, the land, and the non-human beings all around us? Yes, please!

reviews

"From start to finish, Simka's passion for nature and deep knowledge of plants shines through! Simka has a unique ability to make people feel engaged and excited, regardless of their prior knowledge of foraging. I have been on two of their walks now and each time I left feeling more connected to nature. I highly recommend joining Simka on a foraging walk."

foraging team events

Forget the escape room – nothing beats foraging as an activity to boost your team's energy, creativity, and team spirit!

hey, I'm Simka

foraging instructor and facilitator

I'm a genderqueer, Jewish, interdisciplinary-minded human based in Berlin, Germany. I've been teaching both plant and mushroom foraging for the last three years. Tuning into the lives of other species and exploring how they interweave with our own has been nothing short of transformational in my life, and it's a huge privilege to now be part of others' deep-dives into relationship with this weird wild world.

My biggest passion is wild food. I'm fascinated by the wealth of edible species growing right here in the city, by their flavors and endless culinary possibilities, and by the way engaging with these incredible, overlooked species fundamentally changes our experience of the world. I'm also deeply interested in the philosophy of foraging and conservation, and it's a huge part of my work to engage with hard questions about sustainability and the ethics of foraging under capitalism.

Listen to Tales from the Undergrowth

Each month, I sit down with a different forager in Berlin to talk foraging: what's in season, favorite recipes, philosophical considerations, new discoveries and other wild urban interweavings. Plus some wacky music.

Thanks for getting in touch! I'm constantly renegotiating what a healthy relationship with technology means for me, so please give me a few days to get back to you.
