Why foraging?

Foraging is inherently a practice of curiosity, connection, and resourcefulness — making it the perfect team event activity. Studies show that engaging all the senses in an outdoor setting boosts creativity and attention, reduces stress, and strengthens team bonds.

The best team events are fun, engaging, and collaborative, as well as good for the mind and body. With the powerhouse nutrients, vitamins and minerals of wild food alongside the exciting experience of learning a new skill together, a foraging day out is sure to refresh and invigorate your team!

Plus, foraging is just plain fun. There are few things more intriguing and engaging than sniffing, nibbling and touching your way through the free food all around us. And once you start recognizing these amazing plants, there's no going back — you'll see wild abundance everywhere you go!

Teambuilding options

The basic format of a foraging team event is a 3-4 hour walk through a park or forest. After an introduction to foraging and safety and a short mindfulness activity, we'll set off on a leisurely walk through the area, pausing often to discuss the various edible species we find along the way.

Foraging is a great team activity on its own, but if you'd like to give your team a deep, impactful boost for their well-being, creativity, cohesion and motivation, you can choose to add one or more of these extra options:

Nature-themed teambuilding exercises and games, such as trust-building games, collaborative land art, or scavenger hunts (+1-2 hours)

Forest bathing activities to slow down the mind and body and improve mental well-being, such as sensory meditation, barefoot walking, embodiment activities, or a tea ceremony (+1-2 hours)

Wildcrafting and other creative activities, such as making healing tinctures, natural dyeing, spore printing, or crafting cordage (+2-3 hours)

Wild food catering

If desired, you can add wild food catering to your day out. This treats your team to delicious first-hand experience with these amazing ingredients, as well as fills their bellies. Options include:

Light refreshments: a wild foraged snack and drink, such as wild mushroom paté with fresh bread and a foraged fruit cordial

Wild cooking: we'll harvest and prepare a delicious snack on the spot, such as a wild herb pesto or mushroom soup

Full catered picnic: a full wild food buffet to feed your team, using a range of wild seasonal ingredients
