what it's all about
Edible Spring is a four-part foraging course to welcome in the bursting foraging year. Starting on the first day of spring and carrying us through almost to summer, we’ll move through the vibrant spring season together as a small group, tracking plants as they sprout, grow, and change.
Across the four sessions, we'll taste, touch, smell and cook our way into deep understanding rooted in hands-on experience. Designed both for absolute beginners as well as those wanting to expand their knowledge, this course will give you the skill, familiarity and confidence to harvest and work with the incredible wild, weedy and feral plants that thrive in Berlin's overlooked spaces.
The course will put particular emphasis on easy-to-identify species with excellent culinary applications, as well as the (rather important!) question of how to not accidentally poison yourself. You'll get acquainted with an estimated 20-40 different species of edible and medicinal wild plants as well as some spring fungi, and build your confidence to take your harvests home. Along the way we'll also explore questions of sustainability, ethical harvesting, multispecies relationships and the peculiarities of urban space.

Each session will take place in a different location, varying from lush city park to quiet forest and meadowland just outside the city limits. Every session will involve some element of wild food preparation and snacking so you get to experience the diverse flavors for yourself and gain practical harvesting and processing experience.
We'll always leave plenty of time for questions, discussion, harvesting, and delight, as well as time to go slow, be present, and soak in the beautiful nature of these special wild spots.

payment & registration
I've done my very best to keep the cost for this course as low as possible. Still, though, I recognize there are many folks who aren't able to pay 230€ in one chunk (I'd be in that boat too, by the way). That's why I've given the option to register with different payment plans (interest-free, of course). You can choose to pay in full, or in monthly installments over two, three, four, or five months (two months @ 115€/month, three months @ 76.66€/month, four months @ 57.50€/month, five months @ 46€/month). If you need a more extended plan, please send me an email.
When you register, I ask that you pay a deposit of 50€ to secure your place. You will receive an invoice to pay the remainder of the fee, to be paid before the course begins.
If you'd like to pay with a payment plan, indicate that at checkout, including over how many months you would like to pay. Your deposit will count towards your first installment.
Regardless of whether you choose to pay up front or with a payment plan, registration is binding and the cancellation policy will apply (see below for all details).
If you'd like to use a gift voucher to pay for the entire course, this can be arranged via email.
